The first ever major concert from our Top Scholars was a jam-packed success. Liezel, Cris, Bugoy, Miguel, Poy, Bunny & Chivas graced the RATSKY stage, serenading the audience with their own style of classic and mainstream songs-from-the-heart. PBB champ Ruben also joined in the fun for comic relief. Cool crowd!

Here’s a rundown of Liezel’s performances.

All The Single Ladies by Beyonce

The dancing reminded me particularly of that “ispageti” craze. It was enjoyable to see 2 of Maxim’s To-Watch hotties, BFFs Liezel & Cris, strut their stuff on stage with this Beyonce chart-topper. Woh-oh-oh. Haha. Check out the crowd’s response, baby!

Kudos to Miguel for the awesome backup vocals! Bugoy, on the other hand, was impressive on Cris Brown’s Forever.

Liezel sings Bossa! A smooth, soothing, jazzy rendition of a classic song of the unnoticed romantic. This was the Shizznit! Definitely my favorite of the evening. Too bad it was cut short to make way for the duet. It hilariously turned into a Chippy commercial. Cute. Watch out: Lizzie on “whatever” mode.

If I Were A Boy by Beyonce feat. Lee Carr
Undeniably almost everyone’s favorite from Liezel (not mine, refer above). I’ve heard praises (not just from Liezel fans.. try the table next to us, and the table behind us, and the other, and the other). First part? Rough. But the reason why I loved this performance is that you’ll feel pure passion from both ends during the “it’s a little too late..” part. Heartfelt. Something we didn’t see much from Liezel during PDA. Talk about vast improvement. (Acting stint, maybe? Haha.)

Take A Bow by Rihanna
Liezel looked exceptionally stunning in black! Although I’ve heard better versions of this song from her, it’s still great to see her do a Rihanna. How ’bout a round of applause? (Audience claps.) Haha.

Pangako Sa’yo by Vina Morales
This one was a bit too long for me. Seriously, whole song? I appreciate the fact that they made the Scholars sing classic Tagalog songs though. The concert practically catered to every music soul, young and the not-so young.

Cris, as always, looked exquisite, and treated us with sultry-jazzy versions of our fave love songs. More Eastwood gigs please! Bugoy was spectacular with One Last Cry (with kulot plus hand-gestures and all). One of my favorites of the night. To top it all off, we had Miguel’s well-modulated vocals take care of the classic crooning. I just wish there was a Miguel-Liezel duet. Counterpointing performance remembered.

The couple, Bunny & Chivas, were also praise-worthy. Both looked good together on stage. Their stints were remarkable as well. Good to see them again. Poy was a doll. She really knew how to work the audience in pa-tweetums mode and belted high range songs with class. The excellent musical accompaniment was courtesy of Sir Monet & The Dream Band.

It was a sold-out concert for the scholars. Congrats! Too bad we were on the P500 seats.

Verdict: Worth it.
