Liezel Garcia looks forward to her debut album in 2009

Pinoy Dream Academy Season 2 ex-scholar Liezel Garcia continues to explore the world of showbiz as a singer and as a performer. ABS-CBN.com spoke with the fourth Star Dreamer during the taping of Pasko Na, Kapamilya! The ABS-CBN 55th Anniversary Christmas Special last December 16 at the Araneta Coliseum about the status of her first album under Star Records. “Hindi pa nasisimulan ‘yung album ko kasi uunahin muna ‘yung kay Bugoy (Drilon). Ang na-launch pa lang ‘yung kay Laarni (Lozada). ‘Yung kay Bugoy‘yung mga songs pa lang ang na-release, next pa ‘yung album. Alam ko next year na rin naka-schedule‘yung album ko so hopefully ma-process na rin. Sa last na sinabi sa akin ‘yung album ko planong gawing mala-R&B, mas maganda kasi ‘yun ang forte ko.”

Grand Star Dreamer Laarni was the first in her batch to release an album which included the carrier single “Kung Iniibig Ka Niya,” the love theme to the primetime Japanovela Precious Time. On the other hand, second Star Dreamer Bugoy’s single “Muli,” a revival of a Rodel Naval classic, can now be heard over the radio and will be a part of his debut album scheduled for release early next year.

In the meantime, Liezel is busy with a series of provincial shows with the other scholars. Her busy schedule was the reason she was unable to spend Christmas with her family in their hometown in Puerto Galera. This was not her first Christmas away from her family though since she used to work in Dubai where she experienced celebrating the holidays alone.

Liezel revealed that PDA2 was the biggest thing that ever happened in her life this 2008. However, the challenging part came when the hit reality-talent show ended and she, together with other Academy alumni, all have to maintain the public’s attention. This is why Liezel makes sure she gives her best performance in all of their mall shows. She also wishes that 2009 will bring more TV exposure for her and her fellow ex-scholars. “Sana mag-continue pa ‘yung career. Ayoko nung bigla na lang mawawala. Lately hindi kami gaanong nakakapag-guest sa TV. Ngayon kasi puro provincial shows para hindi rin kami makalimutan ng tao. Dasal ko na ma-regular kami kahit sa isang show lang para ma-maintain ‘yung recall ng tao sa amin.”
